Mr. Abdullah has degrees in both Civil Engineering and Surveying, and has a combined 30 years of experience in Surveying, Civil Engineering, and Construction Administration. Since joining CEC in 1992, he has successfully and efficiently completed all assigned tasks relevant to Civil Engineering projects. For his diligence, enthusiastic efforts, and leadership role in helping promote and elevate CEC to be one of the premier Engineering Consulting firms in the State of Ohio, he was promoted in 1995 to lead the General Civil Department of this firm.

His considerable experience in all aspects of past projects, from initial survey though design and final construction, enables him to administrate and manage the professional team of his department to produce construction design document efficiently, under budget, and ahead of schedule. He is experienced in AutoDesk land Desktop design application, Microsoft Excel programs, and other advanced design software.

Transportation:

Prepared and administered the design for many highway, rural, and urban streets projects. Design included pavement design and typical sections, quantities takeoff, special detail design, maintenance of traffic, alignment, traffic controls, drainage systems (surface and subsurface), utility design and relocation, curbs, sidewalks, ADA curb ramps, traffic calming devices, streetscapes, and preparation of construction cost estimates. His detailed knowledge of the national (AASHTO, MUTC, HCM, etc) and local (ODOT, City of Columbus, SAO, OSU’s publications) design guidelines enable him to prepare and produce design documents and the associated specifications to conform all applicable standards accurately and diligently.

Examples of completed projects include portions of I-670, I-270, General Engineering No. 2, Gibbard Road, East Fifth Avenue Reconstruction, Long Street, Mt. Vernon Avenue, Reeb and Hyle Street, Crosswoods Boulevard, Berliner Park streets and parking lots, South Fourth Street and North Fourth Street, Souder Avenue, Merion Southwood Gateway, Eastwood Avenue, Dresden Street traffic calming devices, etc.

Storm and Sanitary Sewer:

Successfully completed the administration and the design of many storm and sanitary sewer projects in the State of Ohio. Project tasks included:

 

Performing hydraulic/hydrology analysis and calculation to mitigate surface flooding (for highways, streets, and various site developments and subdivisions) and direct the surface flows to open ditches or piping system.  
Performing hydraulic calculations to analyze wastewater volumes for residential and commercial communities to support accurate design of the capacities of the required sanitary sewer piping systems and properly direct the wastewater flows to the waste sewer plants.  
Preparing storm/sanitary sewer construction plans to conform to national and local  standards.  
Preparing construction cost estimates.  

 

Site Development:

Prepared and administered the design of construction documents for various sites and subdivisions. Project tasks included:

 

Hydraulic/hydrology analyses
Storm/sanitary sewer piping system design
Surface retention/detention ponds design
Water line distribution network design
Underground utilities engineering and design
 Roadways, curb, sidewalks, ADA curb ramps design
 Landscape design
Grading, balancing cuts and fills design

 

Utility Design

Prepared and administered design plans for various underground utilities (waterlines, gas lines, fiber optic lines, telephone lines, electric lines, sanitary/storm sewer lines). Design included corridor rout selection.

Plans showing existing features corridor including existing underground utilities, existing right of way and easement lines, property ownerships, proposed utility alignment relevant to control monuments, and easement locations of the proposed utilities.

Construction cost estimates

 

Contract Documents:

Prepared and administered contract bid documents for private and local agencies. Documents included instructions to bidders, definitions, bid forms, general conditions, specifications, and special provisions.

 

Bidding and advertisement:

Administered and assisted in the preparation of legal articles for the advertisement and sale of the construction documents. Work included written responses to contractors’ requests for information, preparation of addenda, providing verifications pertaining to contract sales, attending pre-bid meeting and preparing minutes, verifying successful contractors credential, and awarding of contracts to contractors.

 

Construction Administration and inspection:

Administered and inspected the construction phase of many project projects for private and local agencies. Work included:  

 

Attending pre bid meetings and preparing minutes.  
Approval of shop drawings and construction schedules.  
On-site inspection.  
Preparing daily and weekly progress reports.  
Monitoring and updating construction schedules.  
Providing written responses to contractors requests for information (RFI).
