The City of Columbus contracted CEC to prepare a brief report to widen and improve Groves Road, between Courtright and Hamilton Roads. Scope included a study to evaluate installing curbs and sidewalks along the improved section of the road. CEC prepared a report detailing the site condition with alternate recommendations (including sidewalks, curbs, and enclosed storm sewer conveyance system) along with construction cost estimates. The City elected to proceed with widening the road along with a combined open and closed conveyance storm system. The design of this contract included survey and SUE; geotechnical investigation; MOT; road widening; pavement marking; drainage study and design including BMP structure. CEC prepared the design document in record time and approximately $75,000 below budget.
